Dr. Willenbring grew up in Dubuque, IA and attended Hempstead High School. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Iowa and received his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating from Des Moines University, he joined the United States Army completing a one-year internship in Tacoma, Washington prior to starting as a general practitioner in rural Alaska where he practiced for four years providing care to military members, spouses, and children. While serving in the military, Dr. Willenbring completed additional training in aerospace medicine and finished a Masters in Healthcare Administration, amongst numerous other medical experiences. After finishing his military obligation, he completed his family medicine residency through Michigan State University in metro Detroit, MI. While in residency, he received advanced standing for his time and training in the military.
He enjoys spending time outdoors including backpacking, skiing, snowshoeing, and rock climbing. He is also an aerospace history buff and enjoys learning more each day about science and medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys playing his bass guitar and spending quality time with his family.
Dr. Willenbring is proud to provide a holistic and compassionate approach to primary care for patients of all ages. He is excited to start building a relationship with his patients and returning to his hometown community.
